Brownsville has two major malls, each with a variety of specialty and department stores, complemented by an extensive food court and more than a hundred niche shops.
Along the City's major boulevards are many shopping plazas, national department stores and unique little shops. Seasonally, roadside stands appear with citrus of all kinds – Texas Ruby Red grapefruits, oranges, lemons, and limes; vegetables and produce; and watermelons for starters. Aloe and pecans are also produced in the area.
Along with antique shops scattered about town and the valley, Brownsville has both indoor and outdoor flea markets. And don't forget all the great bargains available with a visit to our neighbors to the south in Mexico!
The Rio Grande Valley has a very favorable cost of living – one that is significantly below the national average. So you know that good values will be found whether you are searching for a special souvenir, a travel necessity or just doing your everyday shopping.
